ok im going to be posting some pics this week for a beginner breading room well im turning my second bedroom into my zoo. all my fish and lizards.
my goal is to have a living space and storage for 2 pairs. and then space to hold the roaches and excess equipment like bathing tub and supplements. also i was trying to think how to make something to hold the juv. and younger beardies. considering this will be my first time breeding i thought i would just try and keep it simple but make it easy to upgrade if needed.
i really enjoy this forum and its members. I would love to see pics of peoples set ups if they wouldn't mind showing me i dont plan on having more than for breeders ever just to put it into perspective, this is all amateur stuff. lol. thank you.

whats up every buddy, so i have questions about building the viv. my friend and I drew up plans and its gunna be 80 inchs high 40 inches wide and 20 inces deep. it will be built to look as one whole piece but will be able to split into 2 sections for future moving purposes.
OK PROBLEM IS- what type of wood can we use that looks of great beauty but safe i have read no seeder or pine unless sealed. but what is everyone elses suggestions.
this setup will hold 2 pairs (4 dragons) im very excited to have happy healthy lizards.

How are you planning to divide the dragons? Each will need their own space, separate from the others and that's really not going to provide enough space to do that. You could build 3 stacked with those dimensions, but not 4 without having issues with heat.

Here's how some friends of mine have theirs set up.
For 4 dragons you will need to build (2x) 6x2x2 enclosures with a divider in each turning them into (4x) 3x2x2 enclosure for each dragon (being the minimum dimensions to house 1 adult). With the proper bracing on one of them they can then be stacked on top of the other (the one on the bottom will need bracing and reinforced to hold the top tank weight). You will need to insulate the top tank from the bottom tanks heat lamps. This will stop the heat transfer from the bottom tank to the floor area of the top tank. Easiest way of doing this is putting a sheet of fibro cement sheeting of the same size as the floor area of the top tank. Place the fibro cement in between the stacks.
Hatchlings can be placed in 3x2x2 plastic tubs with lids (2-4 per tub). A section of the lids needs to be cut and replaced with aluminum flyscreen (feeders will chew through the fibre glass/plastic type) to allow for UV tubes to be placed on top of the cut section. Heating can be supplied with 12V halogen bulbs to minimise power cost. Make sure that each hatchling tub is placed length wise across the UV source to ensure the whole tub is showered with UV. If you get the 4 foot ones 2 tubs can share the same UV source but all must be provided with individual heat sources.
Now with two pairs of dragons you can assume that they will have as a safe number 10 hatchies per clutch per pair. So that's twenty for the both of them, given that number you will need at least 7-8 hatchling tubs (2-3 extra to allow for bigger clutches or hatchlings that would require special care away from the siblings). So all up you will need (4x) 4foot light fixtures running reptisun 10.0 for the hatchlings. (4X) 2 foot light fixtures running reptisun 10.0 for the adult enclosures, heat lamps for all enclosures.
To build all this from scratch (now I work on $AUD) i would easily say $700-1000 depending on the price of the materials used.
Good luck with your build

perfectly flawed. well i must disagree 4x2x2 is the recomended size. so 40-20-20 in my experince will be plenty for my dragons. it will be made into 2 main sections with ling thick dowl like groves for stacking. red ink i appreciate the input i was going to set up one of my shelfs with the 48 in repti sun when they hatch i will pm you and talk later. o ya the seperation or divider in between the beardies will almost imitate a book shelf but will be jointed and braced.
but my question is regarding wood. and 700 is crazy maybe if i was using oak haha. i will spend around 600-700 on the second pair and lights
