beautiful pits!  I love cropped pitbull ears but when I first picked up my baby at 8 weeks I was way too nervous to do it so they stayed natural

I actually like cropped ears too and my hubby and I have thought about having it done when we go to get Mugen fixed next month but we may keep her as is because it's less frightening to people when she's all natural

How old is she?

from watching her videos her ears already look like they are starting to break.  That means that the fold in her ear is set.  The cartilage breaks and a firm crease forms.  If it's not broken the ear will roll over.

If the ears are broken the only cut the vet will be able to preform will be a "fighter's" cut.  That's where the ears are almost completely removed.  Making them look very batlike sometimes even deformed.

Boxers pits and dobbies I prefer with the tall sharp pointed cut.

There is a fold and tape that you can do to make their ears flop forward.   Just fold it forward with your finger over the front outside of it wrapping the edges around your finger and a small piece of tape around the ear.  It looks like oragami if done right and when finished forming it looks really good but it kind of muffles their hearing because of the placement.  Dogs with high cropped ears have better hearing than those with floppy ears btw.  Also they have less ear infections and get swimmer's ear less often.

If you do cut her I have a lot of tips for you.  Let me know.

It's not easy to get them as pretty as that boy is at the top of the page.  That takes a lot of work on your part.  Tapping their ears ten times in a day is normal for some.  For others they may never mess with it and you only have re-wrap it daily.

She's ~6 months. My husband were going to get her ears cropped but we decided to keep them natural. In a way I would feel bad cropping them since there is no medical reason to do so.

There are a few medical reasons to do it.  But they really are minor.

1 is better hearing.

2 is less ear infections.

3 would be less to get ripped off in a fight.(never know what'll happen at the park)

Other than that it's purely aesthetics.

One thing I've noticed is that pitties with floppy ears tend to put people less on edge.  In fact if you really pay attention to people and other dogs at the park you can see people and dogs physically tense when a dog with cropped ears enters the area.

Good luck your baby

Thanks. Really weighing it out the medical reasons they aren't a good enough reason for my to have them cropped. I'm not saying I don't like people who have them done though. I think they make the breed look very good and if her ears were cropped when we got her we would love her any less.

Just saw this thread.  Really a beautiful dog Candice.  I am like you, Unless there was a serious medical problem I could not do it either.  The dog would be fine but I would cry like a baby because I would think I hurt it.  I am such a goober...
