Oh it does absolutely hurt.

It's a long slow healing process.  You keep the ears taped up for about 1.5 to 2 months.  The wrapping slows the healing and therefore they hurt longer.  You do a lot of ear massaging during this time.  Grasping the lower middle of the ear and stroking straight up to the tip.  Don't stroke downwards or pull out to the sides or front or back.  They love you for it and it will become a lifelong habit of both you and the dog.

Shortly after I had Booboo's done my daughter started teething.  I had baby gates up in the house and the kid was playing in her room and I was fixing dinner in the kitchen.  Booboo was supposed to be in the kitchen with me but I hadn't noticed when she wandered off.  I'm busy cooking and not paying enough attention and all of a sudden I hear a terrible wailing painful cry.  It sounded like my daughter was dying.  I bolted out of the kitchen through the living room and down the hall, the whole time horrible thoughts were running through my head.  The famed baby getting dragged by a dingo had just been on the news and it just intensified my fears.  I knew that the dogs had jumped the gate and were eating my baby!

I finally get to the bedroom and as I bounce off of the door frame and scramble over the broken baby gate I look down and see my daughter is sitting cross legged with Booboo in her lap chewing her taped raw freshly cut and stitched ears like a piece of jerky.  It was the pup that was crying and sounding completely human.  She just took it.  She wasn't trying to get away or retaliate in anyway.  She was a great dog and that cemented my love for Boxers and also permanent baby gates.

Pits look great not docked.  I'll never have another not docked boxer though.  I've seen too many cases of "happy tail" with that breed.  Happy Tail is when they literally wag it bloody.  They wag it so hard that the tip of the tail will act just like a whip and snap back on itself either breaking the tip of the tail or just bloodying it.  Either way it's bad.  The boxer also doesn't have much padding on their tail.  That a long with their excessive wagging can cause a broken tail also.

I must say both dogs pictured are Beautiful! I hate that they have such a bad rep. Really any dog can be mean it just depends on who raises them. I was watching Pit Boss the other day and they stated that Pit Bulls are not permitted on Navy base or any other place owned by the US Army. That is horrible and Im happy to see someone is trying to change everyones views on Pits!

I was talking to a cop and an animal control officer today at the dog park. They both said that BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) is complete nonsense and instead of going after a breed of dog, go after the people that make them mean. It isn't up to the dog. Pits and many other breeds are born to please their humans and will do whatever their humans want them to do which is one of the reasons why they are so commonly used for fighting. They have a strong build and an even stronger drive to do whatever their human wants them to do. They can't tell what's right and what's wrong because what's right in their eyes is what their master has them do. It's really sad to see them get abused like that (any animal for that matter).

Mugen and my husband were playing around this morning and she decided she wanted to sit on his lap and lick him to death. They started wrestling around and they got into this pose below and I thought it was hilarious:

Smiles from both of them showing it was all fun and games:
