This was a popular topic on a frog forum I post on. Someone fed a baby pacman frog to an adult pacman frog, and a lot of people were upset. Though I don't condone it (especially when the people in the video are laughing about it) HOWEVER, at the end of the day its no different than feeding your beardie a cricket, worm, or a mouse. I don't think you can really make the argument that it is ok to feed small rodents and insects to Beardies, but not other beardies, or other small reptiles. I understand the emotional connection, but it's still just one living thing eating another.

Completely understand what you're saying, though you're comparing apples to oranges. You wouldn't condone dogfighting? Or any other such thing. Nor would you condone another human being setting on another purely because the other is smaller?

While yes nature is indeed a cruel mistress at times, this isn't nature. It's some young teenage punks who think a cruel act such as this is hilarious, it's completely irresponsible. That bearded dragon eating the other is clearly trying to eat something far too damn big for its size, most likely will end up with a fatal impaction. You just plain and simply can't condone what these boys are doing, on any level. And to sit on the fence is almost as bad as what those boys are doing.

And you know what, let me add something to that. On the topic of whether it's cruel to feed live prey to our Dragons, it's not cruel because that in itself is an act of survival; in that a responsible Dragon owner ensures the cricket is smaller than the width between the eyes of the dragon. In doing that, the cricket itself suffers absolutely minimally and the Dragon is very unlikely to experience a fatal impaction.

On another level as well, survival although sometimes cruel is about respect. You grow up on a farm, you learn about this. Let me put it to you this way, as kids we went hunting rabbits; not for fun or for sport, but to eat or for food for the farm dogs. One of the things we were taught and taught well, is to make sure you don't let the animal you're shooting to suffer anymore than it has to. You respect it.

So yes, a baby pacman frog being fed to an adult, as food? I don't see anything wrong with it, unless perhaps a pacman frog is an endangered species. That video though? Absolutely not acceptable animal cruelty.

Being on the fence about the act isn't as bad as them feeding the baby dragon to the other dragon for "fun". I understand you were upset by the video (I think it's safe to say we all were) but your statement towards powers seemed a bit harsh. Look at it this lizardsway too. There are people out there who keep certain bugs as pets or small mammals like mice and rats. When they see people feed these things to their animals in videos they get offended and upset at the person feeding them like most of us get upset at those 2 monsters in the video. There are even other lizards and snakes that need to eat small  like anoles and house geckos. People flip out at those all the time. I do agree 10000% though that those kids are sick @#$%$# that don't deserve to care for another living life form don't get me wrong. You can make videos of your animal eating because you enjoy watching all that is involved in hunting and then there are people who get a sick enjoyment of watching another thing killing

So why is it OK of it involves Pacman Frogs, but not OK if it is Bearded Dragons? (They are not endangered by the way)

BEYOND SICK!!!! As long as I have wanted a bearded dragon! For the longest time I could not have one and to think that there are those that get them and do this! He should be arrested for animal cruelty charges, this is sick. There is no point to it just some socio path getting his kicks from watching animals suffer!

Did you see the one where he stresses out his beardie by putting the snake next to her? Guy needs help.
