My boy has been out for up to 4 hours, only on days where the sun is able to provide the essential heat and light.

I'm down in NZ, our winters are pretty chilly but having no ozone layer over us we get hot hot summers.

You also have to condition your beardie to being out. I kept him at home for 5 months to begin with, slowly introducing him to the outdoors. He used to freak out whenever a bird flew over! But once he was alright with being around other people and being held by anyone, I took him out to the city (as I live on a farm) Now out in the street I can hand over my dragon for "pats" knowing that he is safe and sound.

You wanna keep an eye on their belly, its a great indicator of how they feel.

If you see black, Dark lines and circles it means they are stressed out for one reason or another.

When I take mine outside they usually have the "stress marks" but they aren't stressed. Usually when they get darker to absorb more heat/UV the lines come out.

im concerned my beardie would hunt and eat a local spider or fly and make her ill so worried about taking her out. probably just being over protective though.

One or two wouldn't hurt but it's best not to let them forage.

I have a rodent cage. I put the top of the cage over my babie (Yes at different times).  The are on a paper towel with a piece of wood.  I am so paranoid of a bird coming down.   (read one too many stories....  lol)    They love it...  They check everything out but feel independant.    I leave them out for a half an hour.  Glad to know they can be out longer.

Clover is considered a treat, one to two times a week.
Hope this helps.
