Ok so i have a 40 gal breeder tank for my beardie that i just got and my temps in the tank arent reaching above 80f. So im wondering are their any BAD bulbs that can be used for beardies that might harm them. I was told that any regular bulb that produces heat and gets your temps to about 100f would be good but i just wanted to make sure before i go and buy a new one. :]

You can use regular household bulbs, flood lights, MVB's or Reptile specific bulbs with no danger to your dragon.  Dragons prefer white light, so no colored bulbs.

Do you have your UVB installed and you're just looking to bump the heat?

Depending on how far away your basking platform is from the light, and your household temperature, will determine how hot it gets. Do you have a digi thermometer or a temp gun? these are most accurate.

I have a regular reptile ceramic light base with a 75 watt reptiglo basking bulb about 8 inches from her rock. Her temp is about 109 and she loves it. Ive tried regular bulbs but they just emit enough heat. I hear many reccomendations for flood lights. I tried a small 50 watt but it got too hot. Experiment some and you will find what works best for you

Whatever heat bulb you use, make sure your dragon can get 6-8 inches from his UVB.
