Hello all, my apologies for just joining your forum today and asking for help but our Bearded Dragon is my daughter's and she'd be crushed if I can't help the poor thing out.

We have one dragon almost a year old (we think) and another that we are "sitting" for summer for a friend that's about 3 or 4 years old.
Ours is Sandy the one we're sitting is Izzie; they are separated in their own enclosures.

We noticed a "slight" rash a on Saturday afternoon (about 30 hours ago) that yesterday (Sunday) seemed to get a bit larger.
Today we have noticed that the rash has gotten A LOT bigger.
My wife and I haven't noticed anything unusual in her habits; hasn't eaten a lot lately but neither has the Izzie.
She has been doing a lot of head bopping but otherwise in generally good health. (we think)

I've attached some pictures, Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Wasn't having any luck editing my original post, just wanted to add an updated picture.
Seems to be getting bigger by the hour Sad

Thanks for the reply.
Yes my wife called late today and there is one in the City.
Can't get in until Thursday so I thought I'd see if anyone had any feedback online.

I am sorry to hear you felt the need to join a forum for this reason..I hope we can offer some reassurance.

I do have a question, however.. Just how close to the basking light, can this dragon get ?

Welcome and I hope you will stay on.

Magnifying these photos lets you see the break in scales of the exterior layer.  Although it's oddly colored at this time, my guess is by now it's mostly grayish white and just an odd shed.  Any chance she's been playing in the greens bowl or had access to a water bowl in the last few days?  That could explain the discoloration.

I'm curious to know what the vet says.  Good Luck!

Thanks so much for your input. I agree its unfortunate I had to wait for a problem before I joined your forum.
To be honest I really didn't even know there was forums for Bearded Dragons. My wife and daughter tend to look after our pets more than yours truly.

That said I sure appreciate everyone assistance.
I'm enclosing a couple pictures of the Terrarium. I don't think she can get any closer than 4 inches to light (on the right side is her UV light) 6 inches on the left. (her basking lamp)

I think she may have been playing in her greens and such. I'll have to ask my wife if there was any water in there recently.
I know today she is rubbing A LOT so she's definitely shedding. (as is the other one - Izzie)
I've read that maybe my wife should give her a bath even if it isn't time for one. Possibly help her shed?

Thanks again to all for your assistance. Greatly appreciated.

Well welcome!  We hope you and your family choose to stay and share with us.

Those distances from the bulbs shouldn't cause any problems.

The area honestly looks like the start of a shed, that has possible got some debris underneath it (could be as simple as dirt, but always looks amplified)
A warm soak in water around 88+ degrees for about 15-20 minutes would  make both dragons very happy.  Your daughter will most likely get a kick out of their behavior in the tub.

Following that, I'd watch her to make sure what i was seeing was actually shed and not something else.  if you suspect it's more, then continue on to the vet.

Keep us updated!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome.
I'll be letting my wife know about the bathing suggestion.
Truth be told I don't think either one has ever bathed THAT long haha ... We were doing a few minutes max; think its possible the pet store didn't know what they were talking about? Smiley  Grin

I'm sure we definitely stay with the forums, everyone has been very helpful.
And for those that are wondering why does he keep saying "get my wife do to do it" I'm still in the scaredy cat mode and haven't actually handled either Beardy yet  Smiley (manly chicken I guess haha)

Thanks again for your advice! I'll be sure to post updates

Petstores often have no idea what's actually best for the animals they sell Sad There are a few changes that you can make to provide your dragons a little more comfortable and healthy environment. I suggest going over our caresheet and making the suggested changes, especially in UVB, substrate, and likely diet.
